Is there such a thing as a bed bug season? For example, any part of the year they spread more than usual between people and places?
Answer:
Lots of people ask us questions like do bed bugs go away in the winter or a hot summer. The answer to that is a definite NO.
Why don't bed bugs hibernate during the winter?
Bed bugs don't have the need to hibernate because they remain near their hosts, people and people like to keep the temperature around 68-70 degrees. So you see there is no winter for bed bugs because they never go outside. Why would they? Their meal is inside a home or business, not outside.
Why don't bed bugs die when it gets hot outside during summer?
It's the same concept as above. We keep it nice and cool at 70 degrees inside residences and that's where the blood suckers stay. Yes they can travel outside sneaking a ride to a new home but the trip outside is only temporary.

Does a vehicle get hot enough to kill bed bugs during the summer months?
It takes per much 130 degrees or higher of circulating air to actually kill every bed bug. The inside of vehicles rarely reaches temperatures as high as 120 degrees and most definitely isn't circulating without high temperature fans anyways. Especially if items in the vehicle are inside trash bags they can escape the heat from the suns rays.
